From fitness blogs to Pinterest posts, you might have seen many quirky names for different areas of the body. Banana rolls, muffin tops, and more are all nicknames for fat deposits that seem to collect on our bodies as we age.
Many of these trouble spots are issues that CoolSculpting® treatments at my Fort Worth practice can specifically target. If diet and exercise alone aren’t enough, consider freezing away the fat in these common areas.
Your nickname cheat sheet
- Muffin top: This roll of fatty tissue is visible above the waistline of your pants. It often spills over your buttoned-up jeans and can be difficult to hide. Hormonal changes play a large part in fat storage around this area, making it a hard spot to trim down.
- Saddlebags: These fat reserves accumulate on the outer edge of the thigh, below the hip and beside your bottom. Their name comes from their shape, which resembles the saddlebags on the back of a horse. While some think that these deposits are part of “having hips,” they are actually just fat accumulated on the sides of the body.
- Banana roll: Crescent-shaped rolls of fat that can form underneath your bottom, banana rolls can be caused by a heavier body weight or lack of muscle in the glutes. While some people experience this issue due to weight gain, others simply have a genetic predisposition.
- Love handles: These fat deposits accumulate on the side of the waistline. Love handles often hang over the top of your pants and can change the shape of your silhouette. This area can be challenging to tone with exercise because it involves specific muscles that run down the sides of the torso.
How can CoolSculpting help?
Exercise and diet can help tone your body overall, but “spot treating” specific areas isn’t really feasible. CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical procedure that is perfect for shrinking specific areas that general fitness can’t actively target. After a series of CoolSculpting treatments, my Fort Worth patients can watch the fat melt away as they naturally shed frozen fat cells.
My practice also offers DualSculpting treatments, which involve using 2 CoolSculpting machines simultaneously to treat multiple problem areas. If you struggle with more than 1 of the trouble spots listed above, consider DualSculpting (or even Tri-Sculpting) to see noticeable results in half the treatment time. If more muscle definition or skin tightening are of interest, you may be a good candidate for CoolTone, the newest treatment from Allergan, or Sciton’s Skintyte treatments. Be sure to ask about these as well!
If you’ve had trouble trimming down these tricky areas, don’t worry—you’re definitely not alone. When exercise and diet don’t give the results you’re looking for, you can solve multiple problems in one treatment session via CoolSculpting.
