What Is RF Microneedling?

Like SkinPen® Microneedling, Morpheus8 uses 24 tiny needles to penetrate the skin, triggering the body’s wound-healing response. The Morpheus8 difference is that it also uses RF energy to heat the deep layers of skin, the dermis, which produces collagen and elastin, resulting in tighter, more lifted skin as your skin heals.

The Morpheus8 device allows us to customize the depth of the microneedle penetration and adjust the amount of RF energy delivered to the cells, allowing us to treat specific skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles and skin laxity.

What Can RF Microneedling Treat?

What Is a Treatment Like?

Before we begin the treatment, we apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area. This helps prep the skin for treatment and ensures your comfort during the procedure. Once the skin is prepped, your provider will apply the Morpheus8 device to the skin. The microneedles will penetrate the skin, and the RF energy will be released. The device is moved over your skin in small sections to treat the entire area.

During the treatment, your skin will feel warm and you will feel tingling and pressure as the device works. After the treatment is completed, we apply a cream to protect and soothe the skin.

After treatment, your skin will be slightly tender, with some redness and tingling in the treated area that will last 1 to 3 days. We recommend avoiding sun exposure and refrain from wearing makeup for 24 hours following treatment. There is no downtime required, so you can return to normal activities right away.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of RF microneedling treatments you need will depend on the area of treatment and the skin concerns you want to address. We recommend a series of 3 to 4 treatments, spaced 1 month apart for optimal results to treat fine lines and wrinkles. During your consultation, your provider will recommend a customized treatment schedule to suit your aesthetic goals.

As your skin heals, it will produce new collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, more refreshed skin over time. It takes several weeks to see the full results, but you can see improvements in your skin’s tone and texture within a few days.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The skin’s aging process continues, of course, and we recommend maintenance treatments of 6 to 12 months for concerns involving loose skin. Once scarring and stretch marks are minimized, however, it’s unlikely that maintenance treatments will be necessary.

The results of Morpheus8 RF microneedling are long-lasting, but they will not stop the aging process. After your initial series of treatments, we recommend ongoing maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months to tighten loose skin. For scars and stretch marks, you should not need ongoing maintenance treatments.
