If you are looking for a more youthful appearance without facial plastic surgery, advanced skin tightening technology with SkinTyte® could be the right fit for you. Nonsurgical treatments are on the rise—and for good reason. Laser skin tightening can be used on all skin types with excellent results, and it requires little to no downtime.

When you decide to proceed with this treatment, you may be curious about the recovery process. Here are some answers to questions you may have.

What Can Laser Skin Tightening Do?

One of the reasons SkinTyte treatments are so popular is that they can treat a wide range of skin concerns. Whether on your face, arms, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, chest, or neck, this procedure can:

  • Plump the skin
  • Smooth skin texture
  • Diminish and soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Define the jawline
  • Create a more youthful appearance
  • Tighten lax skin
  • Fade stretch marks and reduce cellulite
  • Stimulate collagen production

Because of its versatility, SkinTyte is an important part of a long-term skin maintenance regimen.

How Will My Skin React to a SkinTyte Treatment?

Although patient experiences differ slightly, you likely will experience redness and swelling that resolves soon after treatment. You may also feel a mild burning, itching, or stinging sensation and increased sensitivity to the sun. These are all normal reactions, but be sure to make your provider aware if you have a rash or blisters. During your consultation, we’ll prepare you for what to expect immediately after treatment.

How Long Will It Take To Heal?

Most of the treatment’s aftereffects will fade within a couple of hours after treatment. Still, avoiding sun exposure for the first week after your SkinTyte session is a good idea, as your skin will be more vulnerable to sun damage. Though you can immediately return to your regular daily activities after treatment, we recommend you stay away from germ-laden areas like the gym that can increase your exposure to infection-causing bacteria.

Can I Wear Makeup After SkinTyte?

Yes, SkinTyte is gentle enough that you can usually apply makeup immediately after treatment. However, be careful not to apply makeup to any open wounds. Your skin may feel slightly sensitive, so be gentle while washing your face or applying makeup. Use lukewarm water as you wash your treated skin (avoiding hot or cold water), and refrain from scrubbing or using rough products on the skin.

How Long Will My SkinTyte Results Last?

Typically, you’ll see SkinTyte results within 3 months, lasting about 2 years. Factors like age, sun exposure, diet, and skincare habits affect your results. Extensive exposure to the sun can weaken the structure of your skin and affect your results. We recommend using sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin and prolong your results. You can also combine your SkinTyte treatment with SkinPen® microneedling to enhance skin improvement.

How Can I Prepare For a SkinTyte Procedure?

Leading up to your procedure, you will want to wear sunscreen daily. Try to avoid facial peels and chemical treatments in the months before treatment, and come to the appointment with your skin free of makeup and skincare products. During your consultation, we will detail everything you need to know before your treatment.
